Appropriate Population:
- School-age (5 years and up)
- Ability to read
- Age-appropriate or mild delay in cognitive and language abilities
Goal: Identifying others’ emotions
- Perspective-taking
- Understanding emotions
- Expressing emotions
Steps:
- Create flashcards with the targeted emotions on them.
- Take turns picking up a flashcard and acting out the emotion using your body language and facial expressions.
- The other person will try to guess the emotion.
Step-up:
- The person acting out the emotion can describe a situation or conversation where this emotion may be felt/conveyed.
Step down:
- Only the AHA acts out the emotion. The client will try to guess the emotion.
